Internal Quality Assurance and Work Organisation System
The Nicolaus Copernicus University has an internal system for ensuring the quality of education and work organization, called the Academic Excellence System (SDA), aimed at building a culture of quality, good atmosphere and high work efficiency, satisfaction of employees and doctoral students, economic effects and the reputation of the University.

The following are responsible for the implementation of the tasks of the Internal Quality Assurance and Work Organisation System:
- rector,
- vice-rector responsible for education,
- specialist performing analyst tasks
- University Council for the Quality Assurance,
- deans and directors of university teaching units,
- faculty coordinators for the quality of education,
- coordinators for the quality of education of university teaching units,
- faculty councils for the quality of education,
- councils for the quality of education of university teaching units,
- directors of postgraduate studies.
Administrative support for SDA is provided by the Education Department. IT support for SDA is provided by the University IT Center. Monitoring the professional fate of graduates is the task of the Department of Professional Promotion of Students and Graduates of the Nicolaus Copernicus University – in the Toruń part and the Department of Professional Promotion of Students and Graduates of Collegium Medicum – in the Bydgoszcz part.
University Council for the Quality Assurance
Tasks of the University Council for the Quality Assurance:
- promoting the idea of continuous improvement of the quality of education and building a pro-quality culture at the University, by disseminating good practices, giving opinions on activities related to the implementation of the Internal Education Quality Assurance and Work Organization System, hereinafter referred to as the Academic Excellence System (SDA);
- formulating proposals for improvements in the form of recommendations addressed to the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University based on the results of measurements carried out in SDA;
- monitoring the functioning of SDA procedures;
- presenting annual reports on the Council’s activities to the Rector along with an opinion on the effects of SDA operation;
- considering cases brought by the vice-rector responsible for education;
- giving opinions on applications regarding the establishment of: new fields of study, levels and profiles of education and forms of studies in existing fields of study in accordance with the procedure specified in separate regulations.
